ALYPH is a Singaporean rapper, producer and songwriter who raps and sings in English and Malay and is signed to Universal Music and Def Jam Recordings South East Asia.
Background
ALYPH first rose to fame in 2005 as half of the hip-hop duo Sleeq, which split in 2015. He then wrote and produced hits for Malaysian artists including Joe Flizzow, K-Clique and Kaka Azraff, before stepping back from producing for others to focus on his own work. Earlier releases include the joint album Detail with SonaOne (2019) and the EP III/III (2021).
Releases and milestones
“Swipe” (2022) became a viral TikTok hit and his most-streamed solo song. “Dari Jauh” followed in 2024, an R&B ballad where he sings in earnest for the first time. His debut solo album The Storm (January 2025) has 12 hip-hop and R&B tracks, with Malaysian singer Ziana Zain on “Teman” and “Gerak” and the rapper GARD on “Sorok Muka”. The press describes the album as an unfiltered look at self-reflection, love and hardship.
Where to start
“Ingat” is one of the album’s most personal tracks; “Swipe” shows the more playful side.
