Background
The group rose through the regional internet with “LOTUS” (26 February 2021), produced, mixed and mastered by their member Ali.3gp. Bandwagon reported on 8 December 2021 that it had passed 17 million YouTube views and 4 million Spotify streams. Lifted Asia described a crew that trades verses over a slow trap beat, and argued in October 2021 that its hype was justified by a year of proven work.
Releases and milestones
“LOTUS” was remixed across Southeast Asia: by Malaysian artists including SonaOne, Dinho, Rudeen and Jaystation, by a group of Singaporean rappers and by Bruneian rappers. On 7 December 2021 Jay Park and H1ghr Music released an all-star remix featuring Park Hyeon Jin, JMIN, BIG Naughty, pH-1, TRADE L, Woodie Gochild and JAY B. The group then signed with Warner Music Malaysia. “SHEESSH FLOW”, their fifth release of 2021 and the first since signing to a major, came with a video that shows the members as animated versions of themselves.
Where to start
“TOPBOI” is a good introduction to the full crew, and “LOTUS” is where it started. Follow it with “SHEESSH FLOW” to hear the major-label debut.
