Higher Brothers are a hip-hop and trap group from Chengdu, Sichuan, China, and one of the first Chinese rap acts to reach an international audience.

Background

The members are Masiwei, KnowKnow, Psy.P and Melo. The group formed in 2015 after the song “Haier Brothers” was well received, and took its name from it. They joined the label 88rising in 2016, on the recommendation of Bohan Phoenix.

Releases and milestones

Their releases include a self-titled mixtape (2016), the albums Black Cab (2017) and Five Stars (2019), and the EPs Journey to the West and Type-3 (both 2018). Best-known songs are “Made in China”, “Black Cab”, “WeChat” and “Franklin”. They toured Asia in late 2017 with Joji and Rich Brian, played a North American tour in 2018 and the “Wish You Rich” world tour from 2019, and each member released a solo album in 2019–2020.
