Marwan Pablo (Marwan Ahmed Motawea) is a rapper, songwriter and producer from Alexandria, Egypt, often called the “Egyptian Godfather of Trap”.

Background

He was born on 22 November 1995 in Alexandria. He started making music in 2015 under the name Dama, moving from lyrics into production, and released “Al Gholaf X Ozoris” as Marwan Pablo in late 2017. His stated first goal was to bring trap music to his home city.

Releases and milestones

The 2018 single “3ayz Fin” was his breakthrough, and in 2019 he released “Sindbad” and worked mainly with the producer Molotof on “El Gemeza” and “Free”. He announced a break from music in February 2020 and returned in February 2021 with “Ghaba”, which passed four million YouTube views in 24 hours, followed by the EP CTRL. His sold-out concert in New Cairo on 1 October 2021 drew more than 26,000 people; the Egyptian Musicians’ Syndicate later banned him from performing, citing the actions of his guest performers. Since 2023 he has released the albums 7OB&KASHAT, PRJKTBLUBEAM and EN7RAF on Quality Clique.
