badmómzjay (Jordan Napieray) is a German rapper and singer who grew up in Brandenburg an der Havel and was living in Berlin when Survival Mode came out in 2023. She became known through freestyle videos online before signing to Universal.
Background
Tagesspiegel reports that her rap videos went viral when she was around 16 and that several large labels approached her afterwards. Her official YouTube channel notes that her freestyle videos had built a considerable Instagram community before her first official releases. She appeared on Monet192’s “Papi” in June 2019, and her own first single, “24/7”, followed in December 2019, according to Apple Music. The Berlin rapper Kool Savas is described by Tagesspiegel as her mentor.

Recognition
Tagesspiegel notes that she was the first rapper on the cover of German Vogue and that she has her own make-up line. Telekom’s press information, which presents her as a role model for young women, says she has won the MTV EMA for Best German Act twice.
