RNZŌ is a Māori rapper and producer from Kawerau, Aotearoa New Zealand, who blends hip hop and UK garage.
Background
Born in Hamilton and raised in Kawerau, RNZŌ taught himself beatmaking in FL Studio during the 2020 pandemic, then turned to writing and rapping after meeting his mentor Church. Rolling Stone Australia profiled him in February 2025.
Releases and milestones
His debut single “Taniwharau” came out in August 2024 and his nine-track debut album RNZŌ SZN in late January 2025. He performed at Boiler Room Aotearoa in 2024 and was the youngest act on the Laneway 2025 line-up in Auckland (6 February 2025).
