Tageel is a masked Sudanese rapper based in Saudi Arabia, one of the most recognisable names in Sudanese hip-hop.
Background
Tageel emerged in 2020 with “Game Over” and “Logha”. He discovered hip-hop while at university in Turkey, and Complex places him in Riyadh. He cites the Sudanese singer Mohammed Wardi as an inspiration.
Releases and milestones
His debut album Kitab (13 tracks, 12 producers) blends drill, trap and melodic rap with Sudanese lyrics and themes of rootlessness; it includes “Bashkatib”, a tribute to Mohammed Al Amin. Scene Noise reported in September 2024 that he had announced his retirement, but in 2026 he returned with the five-track EP CULTURE with Mvndila (Blue Chxxse Records), including “Gamra”, “Bahihi” and “Shagi w Ndeem”.
Where to start
“CULTURE” with Mvndila is the newest release; Kitab is the fuller portrait.
