Shallipopi is a Nigerian rapper and singer from Benin City whose street-pop sound blends rap, afrobeats and amapiano, delivered in pidgin, slang and Edo references.

Background

Shallipopi (Presido De La Pluto) moved from Benin City to Lagos to build his career, and founded his own label, Plutomania Records, in 2023. Clash describes a sound he calls “Afro-Pluto”, with high-energy club tracks alongside reflective songs, and nods to Benin City’s heritage, including its Edo language and the tradition of the Oba.

Releases and milestones

“Elon Musk” (March 2023) became a sleeper hit, and its Zlatan remix travelled to the US and Europe. His EP Planet Pluto (July 2023) was followed by the debut album Presido La Pluto (November 2023), which Wikipedia reports topped the TurnTable Top 50 and Apple Music’s Nigerian album chart. “Cast” with Odumodublvck went viral in December 2023, and Shakespopi (April 2024) also debuted at number one on the TurnTable albums chart. He guested at Asake’s O2 Arena show in 2023, sold out Electric Brixton in February 2024, and performed “Benin Boys” with Rema at Wireless Festival in July 2024. His third album, AURACLE (December 2025), has 22 tracks with guests including Gunna, Burna Boy, Swae Lee, Pa Salieu and Rauw Alejandro. He is listed here as an established artist.
